We got our start in a saints basement having Bible class with a few families. A group of ministers; Brother Michael Waters and Brother York LaFleur and their families, along with the other families kept meet every week to have church service in the basement.

After many months of meeting, the worship out grew the basement and it was time to find a building.  Sister Lafleur had a daycare center on 6 mile Road, and next door was a vacant building that they decided to purchase. They started the church and named it The Church of the first born. It was a small storefront building, maybe able to seat around 100 people and God continued to add to the church many souls.

Eventually, two churches were birthed out of this ministry, Church of the Firstborn and then Pastor LaFleur felt the call to open Maranatha Ministries
